The Centre Francophone field trip to Ste. Genevieve offered Webster students the chance to connect and network with St. Louis and Missouri francophones. This visit also sealed an accord between the CF and the French Heritage Corridor in the Ste. Genevieve National Park for student internship opportunities.
The son of Malian music royalty, the legendary Ali Farka Toure, Vieux Farka Tour茅 is often referred to as the Hendrix of the Sahara. Vieux draws on haunting Saharan blues and traditional Malian melodies and infuses them with his own global influences to create an irresistible Afropop sound all his own. He's an altogether different kind of awe-inspiring.
The concept of St. Louis鈥 Nuit des Id茅es aligns with those organized in different cities across the United States. Participants such as Isabelle Heidbreder (Honorary Consul of France in St. Louis) and Julian Z. Schuster (President of 51小黄车) answer the following question: 鈥淲here are we headed?鈥 All participants will tackle this question according to their respective field of expertise and in no more than 5 minutes. The idea is to share expectations, aspirations and concerns for the future of St. Louis, from different angles and perspectives, all in light of ongoing events such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Each participant will have to answer questions and interact with the audience for about 10 minutes after their presentations.
World-renowned historian, researcher and author, Professor Pascal Blanchard participated in a Zoom interview (in French) with Salim Ayoub, director of the Centre Francophone.
The Centre Francophone and its partners celebrate Moli猫re's 400th birthday with Companie Caravague's "Mad Men! Chez Moli猫re (staged/directed by Andre Nerman with Pascal Thoreau)."
A free screening of "Blue is the Warmest Color/La vie d鈥橝d猫le (Abdellatif Kechiche, 2013, France/Belgium, 180 minutes)," in French with English subtitles. This event is part of the Francophone Week program and comes as a warm-up screening prior to the Academy Awards the next day.
